Canopy, a wireless broadband solution from Motorola's MOTOwi4 portfolio, was deployed to interconnect three healthcare centers, enable a faster transmission of data and contribute to patients' care.
Three clinics from the Venezuelan city of Valencia were interconnected by means of Canopy®, a wireless broadband solution from Motorola's MOTOwi4™ portfolio, in order to facilitate the exchange of information and contribute to patients' screening imaging diagnosis.
The three healthcare centers of the organization "Las 24 Horas", make diagnoses through high-definition images – such as magnetic resonance, X-rays, tomographies, etc., which are later shared among professionals from various centers to help improve patients care.
These images rely on a stable, safe and high-speed network that enables an efficient exchange at the lowest possible cost.
In order to conduct this project, the first one in the Medicine area in Venezuela, the organization "Las 24 Horas" has evaluated other technologies such as Frame Relay, which offered a stable data network at very high costs. Finally, clinics have opted for Motorola's MOTOwi4 solutions, which provide full stability as other systems and offer speeds that go up to 30 times faster, at greatly reduced costs.
Through the deployment of Motorola's technologies, "Las 24 Horas" obtained its own wireless platform to exchange data between the service units of each clinic.
In this way, images are transmitted instantaneously between the centers and professionals can contribute to the diagnosis of patients located in other facilities.
"Truth be said, we didn't ex-pect these results. The new broadband network has exceeded beyond our expectation and is offering significant results", added Edson Daza, System's Manager, Organization "Las 24 Horas". The Canopy system, which provides full access to wireless broadband Internet, has been designed to provide a cost-effective and high-speed connectivity service.
"The system provides a stunning performance, improves the quality of data and mitigates the interference caused by other systems", said, Manuel Riaño, Broadband Business Develop-ment Manager of the Andean Territory, who also stated that the solution can provide security features, such as encryption to help prevent the interception of information.
After installing this system, "Las 24 Horas" has benefited from having its own wireless service platform, which represents savings in monthly operating costs and a short-term return on investment. The company has also included the management of all administrative and cash flow services from the three centers and plans to further expand the applications base.
"We are working on the integration of IP Telephony to communicate clinics. We would like to get the most from the advantages offered by Motorola's technologies, stated Edson Daza from the Organization 24 Horas. "We are very proud that our solution can foster the use of technology in the scope of such a vital science as medicine and help organizations to provide enhanced services to their customers", added Manuel Riaño.
